Learning new skills
‘I dream of helping my country and those coming behind me the way Pestalozzi has helped me. I want to help the youth, to give them self-belief. … With the opportunity Pestalozzi has given me, I can learn and pass on my knowledge.’ – Lwanga
Play It Forward Zambia received a PDF grant to support a Digital Skills Accelerator programme. The project was nominated by Lwanga, who graduated from Pestalozzi in 2010. He is currently the Programmes Manager at Play It Forward.
The project aims to equip young people with fundamental digital skills that set them on a pathway to employment in the future. Basic computing, coding and web development training will be provided to 550 students aged 12-23 from low-income families in several underserved communities.

Play It Forward is a charity and football club committed to social change in Zambia. Their aim is to inspire and empower a whole new generation of young people to take control of their lives. Programmes both on and off the pitch equip the young people involved with new skills to enhance their opportunities in school, the workplace and life in general. Play It Forward’s holistic approach to development mirrors that of Pestalozzi’s, one of the reasons we are keen to support the programme and broaden the impact that Lwanga and the participants can have in their communities.
As well as supporting their Digital Skills programme, Pestalozzi donated football kit for the students at Play It Forward. CEO Jake took the Pestalozzi football kit to Zambia for the students that they work with. They have been distributed to the young people and they, the coaches and parents are very grateful.
It is great to see the kit being put to good use. Hope it brings some match winning luck to the team!
