Staff member Mags with Pestalozzi alumnus Martin in London
Our alumni and students are the greatest ambassadors for the work that we do and it was great to catch up with alum Martin in London last week. A Pestalozzi scholar from 2016-18, he completed his A Levels in Maths, Biology, Chemistry and an EPQ at Claremont Senior School. In the first year, he also took Computer Science, a subject that Martin has a passion for. During his 2 years he transformed into a confident young man, clear in his beliefs and values, and armed with a mischievous grin and fantastic work ethic.
Although Martin’s primary interest is IT, he has a desire to link this with his passion for Biology and how this can be utilised for humanitarian good. He expressed an interest in exploring the field of machine learning and how it can be used to create computer simulations to aid the development of vaccinations and other activities that will have a positive impact in society.
Martin is currently studying at the University of Edinburgh through the MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program. He has also been working as a Research Assistant at the Institute for Language, Cognition and Computation.

Last summer he interned at Google and clearly must have made an impression as he has returned to intern with the company again this summer. We wish Martin well in his internship and many thanks for the interesting conversation over lunch that ranged from transliteration software to Nietzsche!!!
